OKLAHOMA RURAL SCHOOLS COALITION 2024 PRIMARY ELECTION VOTER GUIDE

ELECTION DATE IS TUESDAY, JUNE 18TH

Did you know nearly 80% of Oklahoma's legislative seats will be decided BEFORE the November general election? It is CRUCIAL that public education supporters show up to vote for pro-public ed candidates on the June 18th primary election date!

There are a LOT of anti-public ed candidates in the mix, so make your plans NOW to vote in this important election for public education.

Our Primary Voter Guide is intended to serve as a resource for voters to access individual candidate websites and social media accounts, along with their unedited responses to our candidate questionnaire about public education.

✅ Candidates labeled as "Proven Public Ed Champions" are either incumbents with a solid historical record of supporting our priority education bills across the board OR non-incumbents who have invested significant time and resources advocating for public education in the public/legislative realm over the course several years.

❌ Candidates labeled as "Caution Ahead" or "Extreme Caution Ahead" have been identified as the most dangerous to public education if elected. These candidates have been identified as such due to highly concerning rhetoric surrounding public education in their public communications OR they have been identified as being affiliated with or endorsed by anti-public education organizations and individuals.

If a candidate has no label it does NOT mean they are not supportive of public education, but that they did not meet our tight qualifications to be labeled as a Proven Public Ed Champion. Non-labeled candidates could still be considered as public education supporters OR anti-public education. We encourage you to read their questionnaire responses (or lack thereof) and research their websites/social media accounts to decide on your own if they prioritize supporting public education enough to gain your vote. Emails are also included so that you can reach out directly with questions if needed.

If your district(s) are not included in this guide, that means that either the incumbent was not challenged and was automatically re-seated to office OR they did not pull a challenger from their own party, but will face an opponent in November. We will have additional voter guides coming out for the August primary run-off and the November final elections.

If you are unsure of your House or Senate district number, you can log into the Oklahoma Voter Portal to find yours here: https://okvoterportal.okelections.us/

We hope this resource helps you in researching the candidates on your June 18th ballot!
